Julia Child Dead at 91

Born in 1912, the famous television chef has passed away at 91. Her shows were sweet, and her cooking was great. The "diva" of television cooking shows, she will be missed as we try to find something to fix for dinner without her.

Julia always reminded me of the older people in my life that you know to listen to. The sweetest lady public television has ever known.

You can visit her PBS homepage here. Noted as America's first famous chef, Julia also has a video archive at PBS which is fully searchable.

When I think of Julia Child I think of other talented Americans such as Norm Abrams, people who seem to never make a mistake and people who you wish you could have their skill for just one day.

No more dopamine for you!

If you are a slacker, like me, a day might come when dopamine receptors in your brain will be blocked.

Now, I'm not trying to scare you. I actually think it's a very cool thing. This WIRED article talks about how blocking dopamine receptors will make simians (humans and chimps) work harder and concentrate more on the tasks at hand.

According to the article the rhesus monkeys that were used for the tests stopped trying to guess at what was coming next. They focused more on the actual task instead of the reward.

Pretty cool, there is hope after all.

Thanks Al Gore!

I just found this out, Al Gore never said he "invented" the Internet.

Very cool information.

ID:4, again.

If you've ever seen the Will Smith movie Independance Day and the film "War of the Worlds" then you know that the plot for ID:4 was taken from the H.G. Wells novel.

Bad thing is though: it will be done again, that is a remake of War of The Worlds, but this time with Tom Cruise.

First openly gay governor resigns?

Well, to be fair he's only been out of the closet for a few hours or so.

The governor of New Jersey, James E. McGreevey, is gay. He will resign on November 15 of this year.

At a point in every person's life, one has to look deeply into the mirror of one's soul and decide one's unique truth in the world -- not as we may want to see it, or hope to see it, but as it is. And so my truth is that I am a gay American

If he is gay he should stay in office. Sure, he had an affair. But most politicans do right?

This is what you would call "reinforced racism" because now he is putting the message out that gay men and women can't be governors.

Weird story.
